I just have to say, for those of you who weren't there, Zion National Park is the greatest! If you have never hiked Angel's Landing, you must! Even my mom has hiked it, and she's afraid of heights!
On a different note, does anyone know where I can find a cheap commercial grinder that will grind soil so finely that it will fit through a 60 mesh? I would be very appreciative, especially as my hands are a little sore from all the grinding I did yesterday.

bordering dangerously on whining. ;)
ReplyDeletep.s. I was hoping that DG would actually comment, but at least I made the list. Unfortuantely, he probably looked at my blog at a particularly non prolific and non entertaining time. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteyeah, it's sad
ReplyDelete1. Yes, Zion's rocks
ReplyDelete2. Why are you grinding soil?
3. Why doesn't your prof know of a grinder, or provide you one?
4. Have you looked into coffee grinders? They come quite cheap, and can grind pretty well, although volume can be a problem.
5. Who's DG?
ReplyDelete6. There are several types of magic wheel. To which do you refer?
ReplyDeleteThe reason I need a grinder is that we don't want to spent the thousands of dollars on a real soil grinder.
ReplyDeleteAs to why I am grinding soil...I am at a loss to answer that question. That's what soil scientists do...grind soil. (You've got to build bypasses, they've just got to be built)
Actually, it's because for most of the chemical testing we do, we need the soil ground down to its components (no clumps), so that the tests are accurate.
Most grinders won't work well because the soil is too hard. It ends up ginding down the grinder.
