Family
So...the other day I was talking to a friend of mine who said she had not talked to her twin sister in about three weeks. I commented on how that was a long time, considering the fact that they both go to the same school. She said that it wasn't too bad, and that you get sick of your family after a while. All I could think was, "WHAT?!?!!?!?!?!?" I guess I have a high familial tolerance, but I never get sick of my family. Over Christmas I did get sick of not having my own room, but I still would rather have had all the family there than have my own room.
It seems to me that if families are really eternal, which they are, then our families are the people we should never get sick of. That may take some practice, but I think it goes along with the idea that instead of being nicer to strangers, we should be the kindest to our family members. If we are kindest to our family members, we will love them the most. I don't always do a good job with the kindness thing, but the more I see of other families, I realize that ours is really unique in the love and friendship that we share.

Jo, you'll find out that our family is WAY more connected than almost any other on earth. We have great times together, and often.

    Our family rocks!

  3. ^ So much for getting along with your family. I'm sure there are other families out there where your brother would buy you a cookie if you asked. But I'm glad you're in ours. Now who's ready for some HOT WINTER SKIING!!?!!

  4. It does take time, I believe, to develop the lasting relationship with your family that you would expect everyone to have. Different families have different quirks and thus different shall we say, tolerance levels? There were plenty of times when I was younger that I did NOT want to be around my family but as I've grown older I've grown closer to them. My sister Becky is one of my best friends. But again, I believe there is a search for independence that goes on and some people have a hard time finding that when they around family. *shrugs* I say that because I fall into that category. That is not to say that my family has not encouraged me to do the things that I would like to but sometimes there have been instances where I have been stifled. We are here to get along with one another and that can be all the battle.
